What Are Gang Sheets?

Arranging multiple designs on one transfer sheet

The scenario

A shop owner needs a front logo, a back print, a sleeve name and a few hat-sized logos. Ordering each as a separate transfer is slow. Placing them all together on one gang sheet is far more efficient.

The definition

A gang sheet is a single transfer sheet that holds many designs — or many copies of one design — arranged together to make the most of the film.

Why gang sheets are used

Combining designs uses film space efficiently and lets you get several different prints in one order. You then cut the designs apart and press each one.

Layout tips

A good layout saves film and avoids trimming problems.

  • Size each design to its real print size first.
  • Leave a small, even gap between designs so they can be cut apart.
  • Rotate designs to fill empty space.
  • Keep backgrounds transparent so only the designs print.

Check before you submit

Zoom in to confirm nothing is cropped at the edges, the right number of copies is included, and every design has clean edges.

Make a transfer inventory before laying out the sheet

List every front, back, sleeve and name design with its finished size and copy count. Confirm that the selected transfer and garment are suitable for the intended placement. After arranging the sheet, count again: efficient packing is not useful if a sleeve logo or a personalized name was left out. Follow the store’s current spacing and export guidance.

Common mistakes

  • Placing designs touching each other with no cutting gap.
  • Forgetting to size designs to their real print dimensions.
  • Leaving white boxes behind designs.

Order transfers or get layout help from GMB

GMB’s DTF store is the ordering destination for gang sheets and transfers. If you need help preparing artwork or a finished apparel project instead, use the quote portal. Ready-to-press designs offer another browsing path without requiring a custom gang-sheet layout.

Bring these details to your project

  • Final dimensions and number of copies for every design
  • Transparent artwork, with no unwanted background
  • Selected sheet size and current store file requirements
